An open RP meme set in the D&D setting of Eberron. A world filled with magic, fresh out of a hundred-year war that left one nation as a scar on the land filled with roaming wild magic and death. Eberron has since entered a sort of industrialized age thanks to the advancements in magic-fueled technology. Airships travel the skies, lightning rails crisscross the landscape and adventurers make a living exploring ancient ruins and working for the various kingdoms and factions that seek to outmaneuver each other in subtle political intrigue... or outright bloodshed. The Treaty of Thronehold may have marked the end of the Last War, but the fighting never really stopped.
WHAT ARE YOUR OPTIONS?
AU/OC: You've always existed on Eberron and the continent of Khorvaire is your home. Are you a human or one of the other races that exist on the world? Where are you from? A Paladin of the Silver Flame from Thrane? A Cyran refugee fleeing the dead-grey mists that consumed your homeland? A proud Elven warrior from Valenar? Or a dinosaur-riding halfling from the Talenta Plains? Remember, this is a D&D setting so if it exists in the game it belongs here as well.
OU: Or are you just unfamiliar with this whole thing and it's just too much reading before you dive in? No problem. There's no end to the magic fuckery happening in this world and maybe some cosmic convergence or magical incident accidentally yanked somebody in from another world. Hopefully, you'll find a friendly face out there to bring you up to speed and maybe a way home to boot.
A: Exploration Like we mentioned up above, adventuring's a good business in this world. Venture through some ruins and look for treasure. Just make sure you stick close to the party and watch out for monsters.
B: Cloak and Dagger Just because blood isn't being spilled on battlefields anymore doesn't mean that the hostilities of the Last War have ended. Nations and rulers still seek to outmaneuver and undermine each other and you're wrapped up in it! Are you skulking the shadows, chasing down spies or maybe something different like infiltrating a fancy ball.
C: Murder in Sharn! Or anywhere else, really. As much danger as there is from the inhuman creatures roaming the world, sometimes regular old mortals do a good enough job of killing each other off. Either way a body's been found and you're just the person to solve the case! But there's always complications with these things, aren't they? Maybe the City Watch is after your friend's head for this one.
D: Trouble on the Road Travel in the world is faster and easier than it's ever been. Airships carry passengers across the continent with ease and the lightning rails provide quick transportation in style and comfort. You've hitched a ride on one of these marvels of modern day engineering and if you're lucky you're in for a smooth ride. If you're not then there's a classic train robbery! Or saboteurs trying to knock out the matrix keeping the airship's elemental bound and sending the whole thing plummeting to the cold, hard ground. Better get a move on and fix it!
E: Anything Else Good old wild card options! Like I said, it's a D&D setting and open for whatever you want so go nuts for kicks.
And if you want a resource to do some reading, there happens to be a wiki out there.
